Let's talk about TIME

HOW CAN HIRING A WEDDING STATIONER ACTUALLY SAVE YOU TIME?

I’m feeling emotional this week, with Hafren starting pre-school every morning & Rowan smashing his first day at big school the childcare bills are not only massively reduced but I also get an extra days worth of time in the studio {happy dance}! This is going to make a HUGE difference to workflow here at D&Q.

TIME IS PRECIOUS

My time is precious, but also your time is precious, and even more so when planning a wedding whilst usually working full time, sometimes with children to look after as well, and if not then seriously, all my couples this year seem to either have dogs or horses... life is a juggle and let's be honest here, if there is a way to save time and stress then surely we should all jump at the chance right?

...

The idea of sitting with a bottle of wine, a good movie and making up your wedding stationery may sound romantic, but the reality is IT TAKES *add expletive here* AGES!

And after you’ve done that for the save the dates you ultimately realise its going to take you multiple late nights, a crate of wine and various sore thumbs from tying ribbons & pritt sticking a million details.

( Disclaimer: I never use Pritt Stick )

TIMES HOW MANY!?

Now multiply that by 100 (or however many guests you have) and however many items of stationery you need;

~ save the dates

~ invitations

~ evening invitations

~ order of services

~ table names

~ place names

~ favour tags

the list goes on...

Searching for the right ribbons, paper stock, envelope sizes (and colours) making sure you've included the right information at each point and asked for the correct details..

Phew - who's exhausted?

HOW LONG!?

Now this is my JOB - I live for this & very much enjoy it but it’s not for everyone. It’s repetitive & each item from save the dates, to envelope liners, to wax seals, to order of service bows, needs the same level of care & attention. You absolutely can’t rush it.

Over the 10 years in this industry I have honed my set of procedures and processes, I make sure each and every item of stationery I create is as perfect as the next one. No compromise.

I work with the best suppliers I can at each stage to make sure your end product is truly exceptional. I have them on speed dial, I love them, I know their kids names, they've been round for coffee. The relationship with my suppliers (printers, ribbon suppliers, envelope and paper suppliers, venues etc..) are truly important to me and you get the benefit of that when you work with me.

I will sit, fresh faced, checking your place cards are all in order, spelt correctly and packed in order of table plan with zest, not in the evening after a few glasses of grog. They will be checked three times.

As a point of reference, this is how long it takes me to create a wedding for 100 guests from save the date to wedding day:

Research into couple / venue / style .................. 3 hours

Design Time ....................................................... 5 days sometimes more / sometimes less

Material sourcing / ordering ............................. 3 hours

Art working for print .......................................... 3 days (save the date, invites, on the day)

Checking .............................................................. 3 hours

Sorting names ..................................................... 4 hours

Wax seals .............................................................. 2 days

Table Plan ............................................................ 3 hours

Ribbon Cutting / Tying ..................................... 2 hours

Venue Illustration ............................................... 1 - 3 hours depending on style

Fixing Stamps ...................................................... 2 hours (save the date, invites, rsvp envelopes)

Address Label Fixing ........................................... 3 hours (save the date, invites, rsvp envelopes)

Packaging & Posting ............................................ 3 hours (save the date, invites, on the day)

Now this is nearing 100 hours. Thats a hell of a lot of late nights, wine and movies!

So I'm hoping with these little insights into the dedication and time I spend on each of my weddings, and that you realise that commissioning a wedding stationer is the better option :) now you can enjoy the wine without the stress of dropping it on your gorgeous keepsake stationery & let a professional do it for you 🫣
